New Buzz word "Staycation" here in Westport Ages Ago!

Every where I read the new hot word of the day is "Staycation", meaning that people are travelling less for their summer vacations and just staying at home and exploring their own neck of the woods. I hate to break the news to all those big writers in the city and to all the city folk that are using that word, but I might go as far as to interject that here in Westport we have "staycationed"  for years! Why would you want to travel from a place that you cannot not only see and boat on the lake, but you can swim in it as well! My biggest gripe about living in Burlington for 14 years was looking out at Lake Ontario on a hot, smoggy summer day, seeing that expanse of blue water and know you could not take your kids to swim in it! We can swim in our lakes here safely, golf on multiple courses within minutes, hit some great restaurants, drive to the quaint city of Perth in 20 minutes to shop or do any number of nature trails, hiking, biking or walk, and of course the festivals on almost every weekend are sure to satisfy any need from antiques to Art shows. People from all over come here for their day trips and to shop!! Got to love the shops in Westport! And you know what, some people come for the day and decide like the rest of us that this is the place to not only live, but staycation!
