A day in the life of trying to avoid bidding warsOver the last few years, I have tried to understand why it was that buyers would be jumping over other buyers to buy spaces in certain areas. I've gone from saying NO to doing the bidding date game to not knowing what to say. The overall element has been "what are the buyers thinking?" After seeing a recent story in the Toronto Star this past weekend with only 7 comments, it still tells me that buyers are not as concerned about this as I thought. Even recently I've tried to follow the age old principle of listing within 2-3% of a fair value all just to see no one at the bidding table. There is no doubt that a lack of inventory will continue to keep this practice going but if you feel that this system needs changing....speak up and let it be known!!
