The Importance of Family Time!
I was thinking about my family today while driving up to Big White Ski Resort. I mean it is obvious that as a husband and father it is essential "to be there" when my family needs me. I wanted to go a little deeper in terms of why it is so important to be available when it really matters. Far too often in my profession you hear the terrible stories of driven agents that lose their family while trying to achieve that all so important status of "Top Producer". Seriously now, what exactly does the title "Top Producer" really mean or say to a child when they never see or get to play with their Mom or Dad? Can an achieved title love you back or really make you feel more alive? Do the accolades and "pat on the back" from fellow agents make it all worth while? It is always the same story that plays itself out, just one more deal or I have to take this call and so on. The real tragedy is it you can never regain those lost moments with your children or spouse. What troubles me personally about this, why do so many agents fall into this baited trap year after year? Do they not take notice of what is going on around them in their own office? Let me be clear in my train of thought, I am not trying to say that achievements or recognition within the industry is a waste of time that is definitely not what I am driving at here. Simply put, just keep the priorities where they need to be then the rest of life all falls into place. Balance is the key to success and goals that include family time are paramount in my opinion. Hopefully, we can all say that is what we strive for each and every day we get out of bed. Sincerely, Jason Neumann
