Grant's Law goes into effect for British Columbians starting February 1,2008For those of us that remember a young man by the name of Grant DePatie then this Friday February 1,2008 is a welcome date. Grant was a gas station attendant in Maple Ridge,BC. During a "gas and dash" he tried to stop the thieves only to lose his life in the process. The fact that he was dragged to his death to save his employer from losing a handful of dollars is what is very sad. I am sure he never thought for a moment that his life was at risk, unfortunately the outcome was tragic. On February 1,2008 all British Columbians must prepay for their fuel purchases. Most gas retailers will allow customers to pay at the pump while some will choose to have the fuel payed for inside prior to filling up. I certainly hope that all of us will some respect to gas attendants everywhere and understand why this new law has now come into effect. More on Grant's Law
