Big White Ski Resort residents want a little more peace and quiet!A newly proposed noise bylaw at Big White Ski Resort could be quite things down locally at the popular ski resort. The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary must first have 10% of eligible voters at Big White fill out a alternate approval process ballot by March 23 and then the RDKB board of governors must decide is a referendum is necessary. Having lived on the hill myself for two years as a full time resident I can tell you that this will benefit certain areas of the resort over others. For instance, the properties in and around the bar areas are notoriously loud after those establishments close their doors for the night around 1-2am. The real question remains if having a noise bylaw is worth the extra property taxation on ski homes that really are being used just 4-5 months of the year? The policing of this and handing out of fines will be administratively burdensome as well. Should be interesting to see if the locals decide whether they need this bylaw or not!?
