Westside, Westbank is now officially renamed District of West Kelowna
The wait for an official municipal name for the residents of Kelowna's former Westside is almost over. The province of British Columbia is expected to give the green light to the new name "District of West Kelowna". The desire of Westside residents to have their own identity has been a long process. The irony here is that there is nothing too unique to the ...

RDCO sports a new and improved mapping system
I stopped by the RDCO website and checked it out for the new mapping system for myself and it certainly is an improvement over it's predecessor. I can see where consumers will benefit from the new map but as with all new product launches it still has some kinks to be worked out. As an agent I know I will make this site a part of my routine when looking up information on properties. ...

Kelowna foreclosures are very rare indeed!
For current foreclosure stats please visit: Okanagan Foreclosure Properties
Foreclosures are few and far between in the Central Okanagan today. The Kelowna Real Estate Market has returned to more of a balanced one with homes taking longer to sell and buyers have more selection. There are also a number of "Subject to Sale" deals where one home owner is waiting for another ...

Sports Arena receives Kelowna City Council initial stamp of approval
City Council has approved a Sports Arena in the downtown core and close to the Cultural District of Kelowna. The main opposition seems to be the structure itself. The artist conception below looks more like an outdoor tent than a sports facility but there is definitely some merit to this type structure and that would be cost! There is no doubt that the downtown area ...

The Mission Aquatic Centre may have a new name soonI read this article and I am still scratching my head over the reasoning behind the name change. I can understand that The City of Kelowna needs to secure some corporate sponsorship to bring in an additional revenue stream. I also understand that whatever company steps up to sponsor the new pool would want their name prominently featured in the official name given to the facility. ...

City of Kelowna Council reduces 2009 budget handing tax payers a 3.35% increase
In a effort to make the tax payers wallet a little less burdened Kelowna City Council met "overtime" and managed to trim some fat off the 2009 budget. As a result, the average home owner will pay approximately $55 more on this year's tax bill. I applaud Mayor Sharon Sheperd and city council for trimming what they were able to and save the taxpayers of Kelowna some monies. ...

Now that is one large pothole even by Kelowna standards.Having personally been a victim of what looked at first like a water puddle only to have one of my tires blow out a second later, I can really relate to this story! A lot of the snow we have accumulated over the past few weeks has begun to melt due to the warmer weather. As a result some nasty potholes have started rearing their ugly heads around Kelowna and are unfortunately ...

Admist all the snow and holiday festivities December sales in the Central Okanagan were very good!Although many real estate markets across Canada have been very sluggish in terms of sales, the month of December for sales in the Central Okanagan were quite encouraging. What did he say?!? Did I just read that sales last month were actually not too bad!? I know don't be too shocked! After all, Kelowna and its many neighbourhoods are still considered to be ...

Some neat looking electrical boxes can be spotted around the Central Okanagan.
I took these photos in late Fall before we got ourselves buried in Okanagan snow! I have seen several of these electrical boxes from Westbank to Kelowna and Vernon. I am not entirely sure if this was done to curb the spray painting of them or as they term it "tagging" but it seems to have worked. This particular box is on the corner of Highway 33 and Rutland Road by the ...
