Canadian Unemployement Rate October 2009The unemployment rate represents the number of unemployed persons expressed as a percentage of the labour force. The unemployment rate for a particular age–sex group is the number unemployed in that group expressed as a percentage of the labour force for that group. Canada's unemployment rate rose by two-tenths of a percentage point to 8.6 per cent in October from 8.4 per cent the previous month. The economy shed 43,200 jobs in the month.
