Magnetawan Fish Hatchery!

The fish hatchery is back up and running in Downtown Magnetawan.  The first netting of the pickerel (walleye) took place on Saturday morning and Cody (the wonder dog) and I decided to check it out.  Attached are some pictures - they net the fish, keep out the females, extract the eggs to put in the hatchery and then release the females.  Very interesting process.  ...

Moose are prevalent in the area - be careful!

Highway 124 on May 7th at dusk.  This one was on the 124 just outside of Magnetawan.

Cottage Life Show Update

The Cottage Life Show was a success, by all accounts.  I had the pleasure of speaking to a lot of people about the Almaguin Highlands area - a lot of people who already own property in the area and some that are looking to purchase property in the area.  Looking forward to my time at the show next March!

Spring has sprung!

Since last posting, here we are on the first full day of spring and temperatures are expected to reach 25 c. today!  Wow!  Looks like the ice will be out by the end of the week - this must be a new record.  It is amazing to be out and about so early and so nice there are no bugs!   Cody took his first dip in the river (albeit a quick one) yesterday.  This is ...

March - In like a Lion - out like a lamb?

March has certainly come in in full force this year...although, today, it feels like spring.  Typical March weather.  Something else that is typical of March in our Real Estate Market is the Cottage Life Show, held the last weekend of March every year at the International Centre in Toronto.  We are gearing up - it starts on Friday, March 30th and continues through Sunday, April 1st.  ...

February

What a winter we are having so far!! Fantastic weather...+1 this morning.  So, the commercial course is done - exam yet to write.  Studying hard this week.  Picked up a lot of important and valuable information and had the pleasure of meeting some new people.  I took my course in Oakville and had the pleasure of spending the week with my son and his girlfriend.  Hardly a vacation ...

Billboard

It's official - I have taken out my first Billboard!    Located on Hwy. 124 heading West from Sundridge half way up Clover Hill.  When I first started out in my new career, it never occurred to me that I would undertake such a large advertisement.  However, I have learned that this entire business is based on self-promotion and so here it is...the very first one!  ...

Remember our Troops!

Remembrance Day, or Veterans Day, is the day red poppies are worn in honor of the members of our armed forces who sacrificed their lives for their country.  It is celebrated each year on the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended Word War I. The major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 when the Germans signed ...

Mid-October

It is now October 19th and, having had a beautiful week to 10 days of fantastic weather, we seem now to be in a rainy, windy typical fall weather pattern.  That's okay - we don't have to shovel it and I am sure we are all (most of us anyway), happy about that.  I wish to welcome Kevin & Yvonne to the Burk's Falls area - they have purchased a home and moved up from the Barrie area.  ...

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Matthew and Jessica on the purchase of their first home together!  I hope they have many many years in their home!  It was my pleasure to be able to play a small role in this exciting venture for them!  Thank you.

Magnetawan Fall Fair

I think the Magnetawan Fall Fair was a huge success on the weekend!  There seemed to be a great crowd - lots of exhibits and wonderful music!  The beef on a bun was amazing!  I had the pleasure of judging the parade entries this year - not an easy task.   Cody and I had fun walking in the parade while the kids and their dogs enjoyed the ride in the Century 21 car!   ...

Summer Winds Down

It is starting to feel like fall - the fall fairs have started.  This weekend was the Dunchurch Fall Fair.  The Magnetawan Fall Fair is Labour Day Weekend as is the Burk's Falls.  The markets are winding down - Tuesday will be my last time at the Burk's Falls Market.  The Magnetawan Market runs through to Thanksgiving.  Both markets have been very successful...they have given ...

Canada Day & July 2nd Magnetawan Farmer's Market!

What an amazing weekend we had for our Canada Day celebrations.  While it was very hot and sunny on Canada Day and we poor "vendors" were out in the elements, it still was a successful day!  Where else would you get the opportunity to speak to so many people about the properties for sale in the area!  Saturday was equally as great at the Farmer's Market - our 3rd Market ...

The Best!

I know I just blogged yesterday about the Farmer's Market.  Today, I am blogging about the best dad ever!!  So late last week, I was trying to find fancier sign posts for in town listings.  Sadly, I wasn't able to get any information or find anything that suited my needs.  So, I went to see my dad (a very clever fella who does amazing wood working) to see if he thought he could ...

The First annual "Celebration" was held on Saturday, May 21st, at Tanner's Pub in Magnetawan.  Approximately 50 people attended and enjoyed the munchies and punch!  I was overwhelmed with the turnout and even more so to find my long time friends from Parkhill arriving!  Imagine coming all that way...amazing.  So thank you to all who attended! Watch for next year's "Customer Appreciation" ...
